Sideways positions are generally well suited to circulating and sharing sexual / spiritual energy between lovers. These positions tend to be gentler, slower, and quieter. Although perhaps less stimulating than other positions, such as opposites, they can be powerfully emotional. Many lovers find that they feel their hot sexual energy moving most easily during times of relative stillness. When the heart opens, energy moves freely from the lower chakra centers in the genitals, belly, and solar plexus through it to the higher chakra centers in the throat, third eye, and crown. You may discover that simply opening your heart accomplishes what sexual technique alone could never do—cleansing your doors of perception, accelerating your consciousness, and preparing you for the gift of ecstasy.

This wonderful posture allows you to rest after an exhausting dance of love. In it lovers may sleep peacefully through the remainder of the long night, gently turning together from side to side. Intercourse while in the spoons position is perfect when the man is larger than the woman, as penetration is not as deep and thrusting not as fierce. It is especially suited for lovemaking during pregnancy as there is no weight or pressure upon the new life growing in the lady’s womb. If either partner is recovering from injury, illness or exhaustion, this posture is also ideal. |
